Our aggregate and quarry products

Bellingham Quarries produces general-purpose aggregates alongside specialist products for roading, construction, drainage and civil works. Product availability varies between quarry locations, with some specialist aggregates also produced to order.

Roading & general aggregates

  • AP20
  • AP30
  • AP40
  • AP65
  • AP100
  • Premium Passing 40mm
  • Run of Quarry
Roading aggregate is one of our main product areas. We supply material for everything from private driveways, farm and forestry roads and pothole repairs through to larger roading and road maintenance projects.
Driveways or farm tracks need aggregate that will compact well and stand up to regular vehicle traffic. AP30 is a popular choice for gravel driveways, farm races and accessways, with other aggregate sizes available where a stronger base or different finish is required. If you need driveway gravel or road metal but aren't sure which grade or how much to order, give us a call. Our staff know the products and can help you work out the most suitable aggregate and quantity for the job.

Concrete & construction aggregates

  • Concrete Metal – 10mm, 13mm and 19mm
  • Builders Mix
  • 12mm Crushed Fill
  • Sand
We supply construction aggregates for a wide range of projects, including material for preparing stable bases before houses, buildings and other structures are constructed. Larmer Road produces our 10mm, 13mm and 19mm concrete metal. For larger commercial and civil projects, talk to us about the product specifications and volumes required.

Drainage & filter products

  • Drainage Metal – 17–14mm, 40–20mm and 65–40mm
  • Drainage Limestone
  • Filter Metal F2
Our range includes several sizes of drainage metal along with specialist filter material and drainage limestone. Availability varies between quarry locations, so talk to us about what you need and where the job is located.

Pre-order is required (as not regularly stocked).

Depending on the quarry, the range includes:
  • AP grades

Limestone aggregate is used locally for applications including driveways, raceways and some road metalling. We also can batch an agricultural lime and limestone aggregate 'raceway mix'.

Aggregate supply throughout the Upper Far North

Our regular supply area covers the Upper Far North, broadly from Hokianga Harbour across to Whangaroa Harbour and north. Because aggregate is heavy to transport, the most practical supply point will often be the closest quarry producing the material you need. For specialist products, Bellingham Quarries can arrange delivery further afield.
If your project is outside our usual area, give us a call. We can let you know whether supplying from one of our quarries is practical.

Nine quarry locations in Northland

Having nine operational quarry locations gives us access to different materials and allows many customers to source aggregate closer to where it's needed.
Our locations are:

Fairburn Limeworks Fairburn
Hobbs Totara North
Tangoake Te Kao
Hollands Broadwood
Templetons Umawera
Otangaroa Mangamuka
Paranui Taipa
Te Hapua -
Larmer Road is our main staffed quarry and produces the broadest range of products, including roading and concrete aggregates, sealing chips and other specialist products.
Our other locations operate as satellite quarries, with different materials and products available at each site. Collection needs to be arranged in advance, so please call our main office before travelling.

Aggregate delivery

We can deliver aggregate directly from the quarry to your property, farm or worksite using our own trucks and truck-and-trailer units.
There is no set minimum delivery quantity, although most delivered orders are around 3m³ or more. Delivery costs are calculated according to the time involved, so we'll need to know where the material is going as well as the product and approximate quantity you require.

Aggregate collection / pick-up

You're also welcome to collect your own aggregate. At our main Larmer Road quarry, a single-axle car trailer can generally take up to 1 tonne or approximately 0.5m³, while a two-axle trailer can generally take up to 2 tonnes or approximately 1m³.
Collection can also be arranged from our satellite quarry locations. These sites aren't continuously staffed, so please contact the main office beforehand.

Not sure what aggregate you need?

You don't need to know the product name or grade before you call us. Tell us what you're building, repairing or maintaining, where the job is and roughly how much material you think you'll need. We'll help you work out the most suitable product, where it can be supplied from and whether collection or delivery makes the most sense.

Frequently asked questions for Aggregate & Quarry Products

The size and grading of aggregate affect how it behaves once placed and compacted, so different products are suited to different layers and applications. Larger aggregates are often used lower in a pavement or construction build-up, while finer grades may be used closer to the finished surface.

AP aggregate contains a mixture of particle sizes, including finer material, which helps it bind together when compacted. Drainage metal is more uniformly sized with fewer fines, leaving spaces between the stones that allow water to pass through more readily.

Some products are required less frequently or need to be produced to a particular grading or specification, so it may not make sense to hold them permanently in stock. Ordering ahead gives the quarry time to produce the required material.

Yes. Aggregate is heavy, so the safe quantity depends on the carrying capacity of your trailer and towing vehicle rather than simply how much will physically fit. Vehicle and axle weight limits must not be exceeded, and loads need to be distributed and secured safely.

Absolutely. Bellingham Quarries has built a reputation for helping customers work out the appropriate product and quantity for their job, and product knowledge and helpful advice come through repeatedly in customer feedback. Tell us what you're doing and we can help point you in the right direction.

Aggregates made to order

Need something outside the standard range? Some aggregates can be produced to order for larger customers and projects with specific requirements. Talk to us about the product, specification and quantity you need and we can advise on what's possible.

Consistent quality and reliable supply

Bellingham Quarries puts a strong emphasis on product quality and consistency. Maintaining good stock levels also helps us provide consistent material from one order to the next — particularly important for contractors who need the same product across an ongoing project.
